About Menagerie Recovery
A
project started in 1997 with the goal of
recovering animal menageries around the
world, and thus saving rare and endangered
species. At this time, seven menageries
dating from the nineteenth to the early
twentieth centuries have been unearthed in
the United States. The animals have been
reunited and placed under the supervision
of special caretakers to help tend to their
precarious state.
A small edition of Menagerie Recovery books with text and over 30 images was made in 2005. In addition, large and small giclee prints of select images from the books are available.
